2021 ROUND 3 DALBY 100

The PDS Dalby 100 event was the third round of the 2021 AORRA Mickey Thompson ARB QLD Offroad Racing Championships, 22nd - 23rd May 2021.

Thank you to Pat Diesel and the Gympie Auto Sports Club for sponsoring and organising such a great event.

The event was split into a long course section of 17km and a short course track consisted of 6km. The track consisted mostly of tight, rutted, deep dusty track with sections through heavily wooded forestry and constructed yumps.

Heat 1 consisted of 1x lap of the short course track, completed in 5:30.16 - 7th position - almost 30 seconds behind the poll position Stuart Chapman in his new unlimited buggy.

Heat 2 long course section slowed us down through the tight forest section and narrow gate passes to finish 15th overall in 17:09.44

The Team pushing harder through the forest section in Heat three resulting in a collision with a tree which damaged the rear arm and wheel housing. Betty was out of the running. Track side repairs to straighten the wheel allowed her to be recovered and returned to the pits. It was a very long evening of repairs ahead, fortunate for the help and support from our race mates from Mr Sheetmetal Racing and Luke Peterson Race Team, we got Betty back to racing condition.

Sunday session started with Heat 4- long course section. The Team taking it a little slower to prevent the previous day's incident, Betty made it home in 17:14.50- 18th position overall.

Heat 5 consisted of the last long course section of the weekend, with Betty finding her feet and finishing with the best time for the weekend 17:07.53 - maintaining 18th overall.

The final heat of the weekend came down to 2x laps of the short course. Betty completing the section in 10:37.33 - 4th position overall.

Prize giving revealed the overall results: 2nd in class and a disappointing 31st outright position. We are grateful we were able to complete the weekend's racing and accrue some points towards the overall championship.

Congratulations to all the competitors, especially to Kye Floyd in 1st position outright and Bailey Coxon in  2nd position outright, a super achievement.

A very big THANK YOU to the race organisers, timing officials, stewards and recovery crew. A very enjoyable event.
